Fans of The New Order have been waiting patiently for news on a sequel to the game, which ranked high on our own Top 10 Games of 2014 list, but now that waiting is over.
Voice actor for the very well-received character Anya, Alicja Bachleda-Curuś, accidentally spilled the beans on the existence of a sequel to Wolfenstein: The New Order that is in development, presumably at MachineGames. This came about during an interview taking place on the Polish television station known as TVN, which was subsequently translated by Eurogamer Poland.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard talk of a sequel to Wolfenstein: The New Order, but this is the first real confirmation that we’ve had. Shortly after the release and success of The New Order last year, the developers discussed a desire to turn the game into a saga, which, of course, would mean sequels.
The first two steps to forming that saga are now complete, with Wolfenstein: The New Order effectively working as both a reboot and continuation to the Wolfenstein series, as well as with the prequel, Wolfenstein: The Old Blood. While The Old Blood, a standalone expansion to The New Order, was not quite as well received as the core game, it was still praised for its tight action and solid gameplay, even if the story didn’t reach fan expectations.
Hopefully the sequel to Wolfenstein: The New Order will be able to build off the foundation of The New Order and deliver a true next-gen Wolfenstein experience. With Alicja Bachleda-Curuś putting the sequel’s release as two years out, we could start seeing more of the game as soon as next year’s E3 event. In the meantime, let’s keep our fingers crossed that voice actors such as Alicja Bachleda-Curuś and Nolan North keep accidentally leaking the existence of exciting new video game sequels.
Wolfenstein: The New Order is currently available for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. The sequel is a couple of years off, according to Alicja Bachleda-Curuś, but it will probably be PC and next-gen console exclusive.
