MORE: Pictures of Wall’s broken hand | His weird bowling technique
He sat out the team’s Game 2 loss Tuesday to the Hawks in Atlanta; Game 3 is Saturday at Verizon Center.
The Wizards had been calling the injury a bad sprain, and, in fact, Wall said Tuesday that X-rays revealed no broken bones. But at that point Wall hadn’t undergone an MRI, among other tests, because the swelling needed to go down before he could undergo the exam, which would reveal any ligament damage or smaller fractures.
Thursday’s news, if it means Wall will be unable to play, could be a severe blow to the Wizards’ playoff hopes.
